Glasgow

Situated in the heart of the City's Business Sector, established in 2004 the Glasgow office amalgamated our former premises in St Vincent Street and our East Kilbride office.

The premises were built in 1842 originally as Stockwell Chapel of Ease, however, after only one year the Church was renamed Stockwell Free Church. The various works connected with the construction of St Enoch Station (opened in 1876) resulted in the disappearance of houses, so that in 1885 "because of movement of population" it was resolved to move the Church "to a more populous area" on Albert Road (now Drive) in Pollockshields. The property was sold to a wholesale grocer for £3,100 and in 1886 was converted to a warehouse by Robert Mitchell, with a small extension being built by Robert Renfrew in 1887.

Concept embarked on a major renovation of the building in 2002, which involved restoring much of the stonework, completely modernising the interior and adding a further floor to the building. The renovation has retained many of the original features of the building, whilst incorporating a more contemporary design to the interior.

Concept also commissioned a sculpture by Josep María Subirachs, which has been placed on the front elevation of the building. Subirachs is one the world's leading contemporary Catalan and Spanish artists and also gives his name to our Glasgow office, which is now called The Subirachs Building.
