We believe that every company and every individual has a responsibility to protect the environment and the Earth’s natural resources whenever and wherever they can. Our business practices are founded on working as ethically and sustainably as possible.

It is unrealistic to expect businesses to stop using paper, but we can take steps to ensure that paper consumption is kept to a minimum. Our management systems helps to minimise wastage and CO2 emissions in the following ways.

Reduced overall print volume A great deal of paper, toner and energy can be saved by only outputting what is actually needed. Apart from the reduction in consumables, the time saved in ordering and replacing cartridges and paper can be considerable.

Minimising hazardous waste The use of longer-life consumables reduces the volume of hazardous waste going to landfill.

Duplex printing Using duplex as the default print setting saves an average of around three tonnes of paper a year. That’s the equivalent of 64 trees.

Saving energy Machines can be set to power-down while not in use without losing their fast start-up. Our equipment features short warm-up times, low energy consumption and automatic sleep mode. Naturally, it also complies fully with current environmental and safety standards including RoHS EU directives, and carries an Energy Star rating.

Minimising toner usage Setting the print quality to ‘draft’ can significantly reduce toner usage. The Ecofont typeface, freely available, is designed to use 20% less toner than standard fonts.

Waste toner recycling Technically, the customer is the owner of all spent consumables, even under a lease arrangement, Safe disposal is the customers responsibility. At Concept, however, we know that protecting the environment has to be a team effort, so we offer a number of recycling services including cost-effective collection and recycling organised in partnership with a fully licensed waste processor who meets all WEEE legislation requirements. Other options can be arranged via the Xerox Green World Alliance process. By working together, we can meet our joint obligations to the future.
